Walk and talk counselling

Walk and talk counselling in Brighton, Hove, Burgess Hill and Haywards Health

Take therapy outdoors — find balance, clarity, and calm in nature.

At Alex Beaumont Counselling, I offer Walk and Talk Counselling — a gentle, nature-based alternative to traditional therapy sessions. Instead of sitting in a room, we walk side-by-side through peaceful outdoor spaces in Brighton, Hove, Burgess Hill, and Haywards Heath, giving you space to breathe, reflect, and talk freely.

Many people find that walking outdoors helps reduce anxiety, ease tension, and bring a fresh perspective. Whether you’re struggling with low mood, stress, loss, or simply feeling stuck, Walk and Talk Therapy offers a calm and grounding way to reconnect with yourself.

What is walk and talk counselling?

Walk and Talk Counselling — sometimes called outdoor therapy — combines the benefits of professional counselling with the restorative effects of movement and nature. We walk at your pace, pausing whenever you need, in a relaxed and confidential setting.

This approach can help you to:

  • Reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Feel more grounded and emotionally balanced
  • Gain clarity and new perspectives
  • Boost mood, creativity, and self-confidence
  • Reconnect with nature and your sense of self

Where we walk

I offer Walk and Talk Counselling across several peaceful and accessible locations in East and West Sussex. I have a few regular routes I can suggest, or we can agree a suitable route between us. Possibilities include:

🌅 Brighton & Hove

Enjoy sessions in Preston Park, Stanmer Park, or Hove Park, as well as along the Brighton & Hove seafront where sea air and open spaces create a calm, reflective environment.

🌳 Burgess Hill

Relax into nature in St John’s Park, the Bedelands Nature Reserve or the Green Circle, surrounded by woodland and open fields — perfect for gentle walking and reflection.

🌲 Haywards Heath

Find peace and space among the trees at Clair Park, Beech Hurst Gardens, or nearby countryside trails around Lindfield.

Each route is chosen for its accessibility, privacy, and natural beauty, helping you feel comfortable and supported during your session.

What to expect from a walk and talk counselling session

  • Sessions can last 50 or 90 minutes
  • They cost £55 for a 50 minute session, or £75 for 90 minutes
  • We’ll walk at a pace that feels right for you
  • You can stop, sit, or talk freely at any time
  • In bad weather, sessions can move online or indoors

You don’t need to be especially fit — just bring comfortable shoes and an open mind. Walk and Talk Counselling is about moving at your own pace, both physically and emotionally.

Is walk and talk counselling right for you?

You might find walk and talk therapy particularly helpful if you:
